Last night we almost put an offer on a beautiful old Victorian in downtown Sacramento. It was built in 1913, had original hardwoods everywhere, and even a circular "turret." We fell in love with it the first time we saw it. However, the kitchen and bathrooms hadn't been remodeled since the 1960s (at least). So it would have needed a lot of work. In the end, we decided that no matter how much we loved the house, we're not in a position for a major remodel right off the bat. So, we let it go. We're a little disappointed, but we feel like we made the right decision. We also have several other options on the table right now--smaller houses with not as much "charm" perhaps, but they all require less work.
We have been saturating this whole process in prayer from the beginning. As we are narrowing things down and probably making a decision within the next few weeks, we are even more anxious that God's leading would be clear. So far, He has steered us away from two houses that we thought we would have liked to buy, and we're thankful. We are looking forward to what may happen over the next few weeks. :)

What a fun (if terrifying) task - buying your first house! Is your goal to move in after your current lease is up? (I'm calculating...hoping that I'll get to see it when we come visit in April/May. *grin*)
We will definetly keep you two in our prayers. We were looking at houses but have had to put it all on the back burner due to Nate's injury. Obviously God has a different plan. Just cant wait to see what it is and what He works out for the two of you. :o)
