My 22-year-old brother Michael is in southeast Asia right now, every day carrying a load of Bibles in his backpack across the border and into China. He is there with a small group of fellow believers, working with a ministry that is dedicated to bringing the gospel into that country.
Why long daily hikes and heavy backpacks? As I understand it, the Chinese government wishes to dispel the "myth" that China is "closed" to the Bible, and by allowing this ministry to bring Bibles into the country this way, the government is able to severely limit the importation of the Scriptures while still maintaining that China is a free and "open" nation.
My brother has long felt a call to the mission field, especially to China. Several years ago he began teaching himself to speak Mandarin. For quite some time now he has been praying for wisdom and guidance regarding whether, and when, and how, he might minister to the Chinese people. This is his first trip to the country and I know he is hoping to learn much and gain a better idea of whether he is indeed called to minister there on a more permanent basis.
Please pray for health and safety for Michael and the rest of his team as they make the daily trek across the border and back. Please pray for those that they meet, that they will be touched by Christ's love and by the truth. And please pray that God would make clear to my brother what His will is for the next steps in my brother's life and ministry.

God TRULY has a grip on your family and is using you in powerful ways! This is AWESOME! I will pray for safety, impact, and changed hearts and minds. Praise God for every new Christian in our world because of the efforts of one man, a backpack, some Bibles, and a mission.
